licensing exam, however, try not to let these keywords and concepts sneak past you. These EASY little reoccurring topics are Easy to overlook. Questions will try and disguise them. BE AWARE of questions using language like “Gainfully Employed(OR) Entitlement Program”.

The insinuation is the individual paid 10-Years of FICA Payroll tax.

The word “GAINFULLY” gives test takers permission to assume this person has earned enough to satisfy minimum FICA Contribution requirements. When “Gainfully Employed” is paired with at least 10-Year of contributions, you have permission to tell your client they’re covered.

ENTITLEMENT programs ARE NOT WELFARE! Social Security benefits (AND) Medicare Part- A are classified as Entitlement Programs because, WE PAID TEN YEARS of FICA Payroll Taxes to be

Entitled to these Federally backed benefits.

Disability Income is the CORE of Insurance Pre-Licensing. If you referenced the NAIFA State Exam Manual, Disabilities are addressed in every one of the Health Insurance sections.

– Social Insurances

– Group & Individual Disability INCOME Policies

– LIMITED Risk Policies

– Accidental Death & Dismemberment

The most popular Health & Life Insurance Policy RIDERS are designed to providebenefits when the insured experiences a disability.

– Disability Income RIDER

– Waiver of Premium RIDER
– Accidental Death & Dismemberment RIDER

Even Long-Term Care services could be classified as help for disabled individuals. To qualify as a chronic condition or a PHYSICAL Disability, it must prevent theindividual from performing necessary activities of daily living.

– Group Disability Income policies typically go into effect immediately (AND) identify aMAXIMUM amount of money covered employees can receive while totally disabled.

PERCENTAGE of Earnings = Group Disability Income.

– During the OASDI Elimination Period, EMPLOYER Policies pay the maximum percentage of pre-disability earnings. On the SIXTH Month when OASDI benefits begin, group benefits arereduced by the OASDI payment amount.

This situation with Grandma just started and we have Original Medicare Part-A & Medicare Part-B providing services so, let’s recap like we’re filling out a police report. We called 911 because, someone’s Grandma got run over by a bunch of reindeers. The Ambulance arrived and took her to the nearest hospital.

The paramedics rushed her into the Emergency Room. Here is where the physicians and surgeons covered by Medicare Part-B come into play. Grandma received Part-A without paying a premium since she paid way more than 10-Years of FICA Payroll tax. She paid a monthly premium for her Part-B benefits.

I’m glad Grandma has hospitalization, physician and surgical benefits from Original Medicare however, right now she needs DRUGS! I can’t even imagine how bad it would hurt to be trampled reindeers so, let’s throw some pain meds into this story.

The problem is, Original Medicare DOES NOT cover pharmaceuticals. Part-A will provide anesthesia with its surgical facility benefits. Part-A also covers hospice for terminally ill beneficiaries which includes pain management medications.

Original Medicare is a Part-A & Part-B conversation so, Medicare Part-C can, see its way out of this section. Medicare Part-C is a COMPREHENSIVE STANDALONE option designed to replace ORIGINAL MEDICARE and the other two remaining parts
